Much like an address of where you have your website files stored.

Your domain name provider eg. godday.com usually has a domain manger section in your account once you have purchased your domain name from them. This video shows you how simple it is to change them to point to where you have store your website files. Where you store your website files is called your hosting. It can be the same as the domain provider or a different company all together.

Once you have changed your DNS to point to your hosting it can take up to 24 hours to take effect. It usually takes less though.

How do you find your Domain Name Server info?

When you buy your domain name you are given an account with the company you buy it from. In your account area you will usually find an area called domain name manager or similar.

Also most Hosting sellers will send you a welcome email straight after purchase in which you will have the DNS basic info in which to use to point your Domain Name to.

They look like this   0057.Hostgator.com, oo58.hostgator.com and often you will be given at least 2.

Summary:

1. Domain Name Servers are the “address” of where your website files are stored
2. Your Domain name provider is where they are stored and can be changed to point to your Hosting (website files)
3. Your Hosting company will give you the correct DNS to point your domain to,usually in your welcome email and in your cpanel there after.
4. You may have to different companies handling your Domain (url) and your Hosting (website files storage).
